Discover H4CBD

Cannabinoids are malleable chemical compounds, easily manipulated in the laboratory. Certain experiments have given rise to improved substances, this is the case for H4CBD.

This molecule is one of the most recent cannabinoids to enter the market. We invite you to discover why it arouses such interest.

What is it about ?

H4CBD (or hexahydrocannabidiol) is also known as hydrogenated CBD.

This cannabinoid, once reserved for research purposes, is now available in many products.

H4CBD was discovered in 1940 during the work carried out by a group of pioneering cannabis researchers. They are responsible for the identification and synthesis of dozens of cannabinoids. Initially, H4CBD was produced by catalyzing CBD with a metal alloy, but safer processes are in place today.

What is the difference between H4CBD and CBD?

H4CBD is inherently different from CBD in that it is technically synthetic.

It is made by adding 4 hydrogen atoms to CBD molecules. We can compare the manufacturing process of H4CBD to the hydrogenation of margarine from vegetable oil.

Hydrogenation is considered one of the simplest forms of synthesis. However, due to the modification of its chemical structure to accommodate more hydrogen atoms, H4CBD can no longer be called a strictly natural cannabinoid.

CBD and H4CBD are also different in terms of effects. One of the benefits of CBD is that it does not have intoxicating properties, while still providing the benefits associated with cannabis.

H4CBD rather represents an alternative to THC, due to its psychoactive properties.

What are the effects of H4CBD?

Most of the information we have on the effects of H4CBD comes from a study done in 2006. A research team determined that, like most cannabinoids, H4CBD had some anti-inflammatory potential. But more importantly, this form of CBD appeared to interact strongly with the CB1 receptors of the endocannabinoid system, which regulates various physiological processes like pain perception< /a>.

Although further work is needed, new evidence appears to confirm that H4CBD produces the same effects as CBD, but with a higher degree of psychoactive activity.

Is H4CBD safe?

Hydrogenation is a relatively simple procedure (used for example to turn vegetable oil into margarine), but it changes the chemical structure of the affected compounds, making them synthetic.

We still need perspective to fully appreciate the issues in terms of security.

However, we can rely on feedback regarding CBD. The quality of the products has been greatly improved and is regularly monitored.

Hydrogenation can sometimes alter compounds in negative ways. We will therefore have to wait for more tests on the safety of H4CBD to make a decision.

Is H4CBD legal?

H4CBD complies with the legislation in force in France.

To be considered legal, cannabinoids derived from the hemp plant must not have a THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content greater than 0.3%.

To know if the H4CBD you are consuming is legal, you will need to look at the THC content of these products. If they contain a higher amount of THC, they are considered illegal.

Can you drive after consuming H4CBD?

How H4CBD affects driving depends on several factors such as quantity, individual sensitivity, tolerance, and how it is consumed.

H4CBD has psychoactive properties, which may impair alertness, coordination, reaction time and the ability to concentrate. Therefore, we do not recommend consuming H4CBD before getting behind the wheel.

If you consume CBD or H4CBD and are stopped at the roadside with a saliva test, it is crucial to know that tiny traces of THC can be detected.

The law makes no distinction as to the origin of the THC present. In other words, whether it comes from a legal source like CBD or from harmful cannabinoids, what matters is the mere presence of THC. And this can have serious consequences.

You are in fact exposed to severe penalties linked to driving under the influence of illicit substances. You risk a prison sentence, a fine of 4,500 euros, and the loss of six points on your license.

In some cases, your driver's license could even be suspended or revoked. We therefore strongly recommend that you do not take unnecessary risks.

Consumption precautions

We advise you to adopt the same precautions for H4CBD as those already recommended for CBD. Namely a progressive dosage until you feel the desired effect.

It is essential to consult your doctor, especially if you are following ongoing medical treatment or if you suffer from a chronic condition.

Of course, we do not recommend H4CBD for pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is also strictly prohibited for minors.

Learn more about H4CBD

Is H4CBD more powerful than CBD?

CBD works differently from THC and CB1 receptors, usually by reducing their activity. H4CBD, due to its hydrogenation process, may have an increased affinity for CB1 receptors, which could make it more psychoactive than CBD. However, scientific data regarding H4CBD is limited. More research is needed to better understand its effects and potency compared to conventional CBD.

Is H4CBD the only hydrogenated CBD?

It is a form of hydrogenated CBD, but H4CBD is not the only one. For example, there is H2CBD, which only contains two added hydrogen atoms instead of four. In fact, several different hydrogenated forms of CBD exist. They all have distinct chemical structures and effects.

Is H4CBD the same as HHC?

No, H4CBD and HHC are different compounds, even though they have similar origins.

Like H4CBD with CBD, HHC is the hydrogenated form of THC. The cannabinoids from which they are derived are different, so HHC and H4CBD are not comparable.

Finally, unlike H4CBD, HHC is now one of the illicit substances in France.
