Indoor CBD Flowers

Indoor CBD Flowers

Indoor cultivation of CBD flowers is particularly widespread. By growing hemp indoors, a grower can monitor the plants more closely and provide them with optimal conditions. This results in a high-quality product and a good yield.

In addition, when growing indoors, you can use cutting-edge growing techniques such as aeroponic or hydroponic methods. These techniques allow the plants to absorb all the nutrients and produce flowers rich in cannabidiol (CBD).

Indoor CBD flowers receive the ideal amount of artificial light indoors (controlled by the grower). They also develop particular qualities that set them apart from hemp grown outdoors.

How to recognise an Indoor CBD flower?

The first step in identifying indoor hemp flowers is to look at their size. In general, indoor plants have slightly smaller buds than CBD hemp grown outdoors. They are also more compact than those of outdoor plants, and therefore contain a high density of leaflets, pistils and trichomes. Indoor CBD hemp buds are also easy to identify because their stems are thinner than those of other buds.

As mentioned, the compact size of Indoor CBD flower buds (which is still more than sufficient), the controlled growing environment and the proximity of the light source result in a high density of trichomes in "indoor" hemp flowers.

Trichomes

Hemp trichomes are tiny translucent filaments that produce resin. As they mature, they turn milky white. Hemp resin is the substance that contains the cannabinoids, in this case CBD and other non-psychotropic cannabinoids. As a result, the flowers are very rich in CBD. The resin they contain also makes them rather sticky before drying, but after drying they are covered in crystals that make them almost shiny.

The colour of Indoor CBD flowers is one of their most fascinating characteristics. Indoor buds are pale green, whereas outdoor hemp is darker.

The colour of Indoor CBD Flowers

Growth under artificial light and the higher density of trichomes are the reasons for this. Unsurprisingly, the lighter the greenish flowers, the more trichomes (and therefore CBD) they have. A layer of trichomes visible on the outside of buds that turn more purple or red indicates that they have a crystalline coating.

Outdoor flowers are darker at the base of the bud. In contrast, the base of indoor buds matches the rest of the bud. The base of outdoor flowers is light brown (for example, bright green, red or purple).

Is indoor hemp better than outdoor hemp?
Although all growing techniques are effective, outdoor growing cannot control climatic conditions. Humidity, light, temperature, soil type and all climatic conditions remain at the mercy of Mother Nature. In Indoor cultivation, on the other hand, every element is fully mastered and constantly monitored.

A grower who opts for the Indoor approach can:

- Quickly identify each male plant and remove it (pollination prevents female plants, which are the ones that produce the buds, from flowering);
- Better manage soil pH;
- Use strategies that help the plant absorb nutrients;
- Control light cycles: for a hemp plant to flower at its best, it needs 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness.
- Grow organic products without pesticides, because they are not needed.
