CBD Oils: Our Selection
Which CBD Oil Should You Choose? The choice depends on several criteria. Full or Broad Spectrum? Concentration? Which Carrier Oil?
CBD concentration?
CBD concentration is expressed as a percentage: the amount of CBD in the bottle divided by its total volume. For example, a CBD oil containing 10ml of oil and 2000mg (milligrams) of CBD has a concentration of 20%. Likewise, an oil containing 30ml of oil and 4500mg of CBD has a concentration of 15%. This is an important criterion when choosing a CBD oil, because the most concentrated oils are more economical per mg of CBD.
Full or Broad Spectrum?
When deciding which oil to choose, you need to consider the question of spectrum.
Full Spectrum oils contain all the molecules present in hemp, including a tiny amount of THC within the legal limit of 0.3%. Broad Spectrum oils contain all the cannabinoids present in hemp except THC. There are also oils based on CBD isolate, which contain only CBD.
Another, less often mentioned aspect is CBG (cannabigerol), a precursor of many cannabinoids, including CBD and CBN. CBG is present in relatively small amounts in hemp plants; some of our oils contain more of it. CBN (cannabinol) is another cannabinoid, present in some Full or Broad Spectrum oils: check the composition of the oil you choose on its product page.
Organic CBD oil
Another consideration is the origin of the CBD oil, in particular whether it comes from organic farming. Choosing oils from organic farming guarantees that the hemp plant was grown without pesticides or chemical fertilisers. This not only contributes to a better-quality oil, but is also a choice that is kinder to the environment and to the integrity of the ecosystem.
Which Carrier Oil?
CBD oil is made from a thick extract obtained by separating the CBD molecule from the plant material. This viscous extract has a very high concentration of CBD and other cannabinoids. It is then purified and diluted in a carrier oil. When wondering which oil to choose, you should look at the carrier oil. The most widely used carrier oils are:
- Hemp seed oil, which gives a hemp taste, appreciated by fans of hemp and herbal flavours and of the plant in its natural state.
- MCT oil (Medium Chain Triglycerides), colourless and odourless. Essential oils are often added to MCT oil to give flavours such as mint or citrus.
- Classic food oils such as olive oil or hazelnut oil.
How to take CBD oil?
CBD oil is generally taken sublingually: you place a few drops under the tongue and hold them there for about a minute before swallowing.
You can also add the oil to a hot drink or a salad dressing. Stick to the number of drops stated on the label; to learn more about dosage, see our guide.
Why oil as a carrier?
CBD is a fat-soluble molecule, which means it dissolves in fats. Oil is therefore a natural carrier for cannabidiol.
French law does not allow us to make therapeutic claims about CBD. CBD products are not medicines.
Who can take CBD oil?
CBD oil is for adults only. It is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for minors. If you are under medical treatment, ask your doctor for advice. To learn more, see our articles on CBD and seniors and on CBD for women.
CBD oil in a dropper or spray
Our range of oils consists of classic products that come in a small bottle with a dropper to dispense the drops. We also offer oils available as a spray, a format that allows quick, measured use.
Which flavour to choose for your CBD oil
We also offer oils in a range of flavours for customers who do not like the natural taste of hemp. This is an important factor when choosing a CBD oil. Some oils have natural citrus, apple and mint flavours. Others combine CBD with organic essential oils or other ingredients (see also our selection of CBD oils and capsules with vitamins).
The oils we offer are Full or Broad Spectrum oils that retain the flavonoids and terpenes from hemp. We do not offer oils made from CBD isolate, which we consider further from the plant's natural state.
