Indoor CBD Flowers

Indoor cultivation is one of the most commonly used cultivation methods for CBD. The main rationale behind this decision is simple: by growing marijuana indoors, a horticulturist can better monitor the plants and provide them with hospitable conditions, resulting in a great product and a good yield.

Additionally, if you are growing indoors, you can use advanced growing techniques like aeroponic or hydroponic approaches. These techniques allow the plants to absorb all the nutrients and produce flowers rich in cannabidiol (CBD).

CBD flowers receive the ideal amount of indoor artificial light (controlled by the grower). In addition, they develop special qualities that distinguish them from marijuana grown outdoors.

How to recognize an Indoor CBD flower?
The first step in identifying indoor marijuana flowers is to pay attention to the size of the flowers. In general, the buds of indoor plants are a little smaller than those of CBD cannabis grown outdoors. They are also more compact than those of outdoor plants as they contain a high density of leaflets, pistils and trichomes. In addition, indoor CBD marijuana buds can be identified easily because their stems are thinner than those of other buds.

As we mentioned, the compact size of the CBD buds (which is still more than enough), the regulated growing environment and the proximity to the light source resulted in a high density of trichomes in the flowers legal "indoor" cannabis.

Cannabis trichomes are tiny, translucent filaments that produce resin and, as they mature, turn milky white. Cannabis resin is the substance that contains the cannabinoids, in this case CBD and other non-psychotropic cannabinoids. Therefore, the flowers are very high in CBD and have all the benefits of cannabidiol. In addition, the resin they contain makes them rather sticky before drying, but after drying, crystals cover them, making them almost shiny.

The color of indoor CBD flowers is one of its most fascinating characteristics. Indoor cannabis buds are often pale green, while outdoor marijuana tends to be darker.

The reason for this is the growth under artificial light and the increased density of trichomes. Unsurprisingly, the lighter the greenish cannabis flowers, the more trichomes (and therefore CBD). A layer of trichomes that can be seen on the outside of the buds that turn more purple or red indicates that they have a crystalline patina.

Outdoor flowers are darker at the base of the head, which is another color characteristic of indoor flowers. While the base of the inner buds conforms to the rest of the bud, the bottom of the outer cannabis flowers is light brown (e.g. bright green, red, or purple).

Is indoor marijuana superior to outdoor marijuana?
Although all growing techniques are effective, marijuana grown outdoors has less control over humidity, light, temperature and other environmental conditions. In contrast, all elements that affect the health of the plant and all those that could inadvertently endanger it can be rigorously controlled in cannabis produced indoors.

A grower who opts for the Indoor approach can:
- Quickly recognize each male plant and get rid of it (pollination prevents the female plants, which are the ones that generate the buds, from flowering);
- Better manage the pH of the soil;
- Use strategies that favor the absorption of nutrients by the plant;
- Control light cycles: for a cannabis plant to flower at its best, it has to need 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness.
- Growing organic produce, without the use of pesticides, as they are not necessary.
